Introduction
The Digital Economy Platform of the Ministry of Economy and Industry ("the Platform", "we") is committed to protecting the privacy of visitors to this website. Personal data is processed in accordance with Law No. 12 of 2024 on the Protection of Electronic Personal Data. By using the website, you agree to this policy.
Legal basis
- Law No. 12 of 2024 on the Protection of Electronic Personal Data: sets out the rights of data subjects (Article 3) and the standards for collecting and processing data (Article 4).
- Law No. 20 of 2022 on Regulating Online Communication and Combating Cybercrime: makes unauthorised access, interception of information and invasion of privacy criminal offences.
- Electronic Transactions Law No. 3 of 2014: requires the information of parties to electronic dealings to be protected.
What we collect
You can browse the website without an account and without giving us any personal data. We only collect data in the following cases:
- Contact form: your full name, phone number, WhatsApp number, reason for contacting us, message subject and text, and any PDF attachments you choose to send.
- Volunteer portal: your full name, phone number, WhatsApp number, chosen specialisation, CV as a PDF, and optionally your email address, city and notes.
- Startup registration: the company's name, field of work and a short description, the contact person's name and WhatsApp number, and optionally a website, a second WhatsApp number, an email address, a city and the founding year.
- Applications to join the Digital Economy Map (map.det.gov.sy): the company's details (name, description, sectors, governorate, city, address, phone numbers, email, website and social accounts, and the licensing authority and licence number in regulated sectors), its commercial register number and a PDF of the register, and the contact person's name and phone number.
- Technical data: standard server logs, such as your IP address, the time of the request and the page requested, used to run and protect the website.
What we do not collect
The website does not collect payment details or ask for sensitive data. Please do not include such data in your messages or attachments.
How we use your data
Under Article 4 of Law No. 12 of 2024, we use the data for the following specific purposes only:
- Replying to questions, complaints and proposals sent through the contact form.
- Reviewing volunteer applications and contacting applicants by phone or WhatsApp.
- Reviewing applications to the Digital Economy Map and checking the commercial register, then publishing a verified company's public details on the map. The commercial register number and document and the contact person's details are never published.
- Keeping the website secure and running properly.
No marketing
Your data is never used for marketing or advertising.
Sharing and disclosure
- Only authorised Platform staff can see your data, and only as far as needed to handle your request.
- The Platform team receives notifications of contact form messages and their attachments, and of applications to the map with the commercial register, through the Telegram messaging app, a service operated outside the Syrian Arab Republic.
- Your data is never sold, rented or handed to anyone for commercial purposes.
- Data may be disclosed to the competent public authorities where the laws in force require it.
How we protect your data
The Platform takes technical and administrative measures to protect data from unauthorised access. Attachments, CVs and commercial registers are kept in storage that is not publicly accessible, and can only be opened from the admin dashboard by authorised staff after they sign in. If a breach affects personal data, we follow the notification procedures set out in Law No. 12 of 2024.
How long we keep data
In line with Article 4 of Law No. 12 of 2024, personal data is kept no longer than needed for the purpose it was collected for. It is then deleted, or deleted sooner at your request, unless the law requires us to keep it.
Your rights
Article 3 of Law No. 12 of 2024 gives you the right to:
- Know what personal data about you is being processed, and access it.
- Have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected.
- Have your data erased.
- Withdraw your consent to processing.
- Report any breach of your data.
- Complain to the Personal Data Protection Authority.
Exercising your rights
To exercise any of these rights, write to us through the Contact page, stating your request and the phone number you used when you contacted us.
Cookies
Cookies are small files your browser stores on your device. This website uses only the cookies it needs to work:
